![]() ![]() Furthermore some of the free dlc and extra content released post launch is NOT translated so you have to play an earlier version with Think Backstroke of the West for an example of what to expect. Like, WORSE than google translate and less comprehensible with typos, untranslated sections, hilariously literally translated poetry, anachronisms, etc. The translation is made by the company and it is trash. ![]() It's honestly one of the best RPGs I've played provided you can get past the awful translation. The combat is really good too with enemies being defined by unique passives that are based on their wuxia style. It doesn't hold your hand and there are some elements of hostile design but the amount of options and the sheer breadth of choices is staggering not to mention there's like 5 completely divergent ending routes that are many hours long each and so many missable events its meant to be replayed over and over. It has an ABSURD amount of branching paths, countless different builds and its really amazing seeing your build come together in the end game. It's a big zero to hero like story where you choose what to focus on while dealing with typical Wuxia fare story like warring sects and evil cults and whatnot. Tale of Wuxia is basically a cross between a persona-like or Princess-Maker like game where you develop stats and choose what to train in. And unlock most open-worldish RPGs these games are HARD and beating even the standard final boss requires you to master and understand the system and optimize the game with some gameplay bosses approaching super-boss tier in other RPGs. Basically in each of them you get stronger by studying martial arts manuals with which manuals you study defining your build and improving base stats and it ends up feeling alot like these xianxia novels where you find a unique art and study it to get a big power boost only here you are choosing what ot study, what to build and you never feel like your progression is halted or stopped and you are constantly working towards something. There's 4 of them available and they all share a similar progression system which is by far one of the best progression systems I've seen in any game series. They are not Xianxia games and do not feature most Cultivation-genre tropes but the entire output library of Heluo Studies may scratch your itch, though be warned that the translations are pretty trash where they are available. ![]()
